(More customer reviews)The story -- Gil the ant is lost inside a house.After being hit with a big drop of water he crawls out of the kitchen drain and up a straw.After leaving the kitchen sink Gil briefly explores the house (giving us an ant's-eye view of a clock and pink mat) until he finally sees his friends outside.Sneaking past a sleeping dog, he arrives at home, at last.

There are generally one to two sentences per page in this book.The vocabulary includes: clock, pink, walk, two, sink, wet, sneak, past, friends, called, help, and whew!

The pictures are cute even though it's not always clear what we are seeing.Still the story is so cute that most children won't care.Besides the story, there are also instructions on how to make an ant bookmark at the end of the book.

Three Stars.[C+].While the plot is cute the major contribution to this book was done by Daniel Moreton, the illustrator.[ Or in other words, Gil the ant is really cute.]Greenlight labels this book as a Level 1, and I think their estimation is right.This is a book for the newer reader, one with a little experience under their belt.
