I often reread passages in order to savor the beautiful language used by the author.I enjoyed matching up the old place names with the current place names.Also, I am a birder and had fun identifying the birds in the book by their descriptions.I found especially interesting the way the author juxtabposed the Caalus religion and Christianity.The dramatic ending really conveys the anguish and loss of another native civilization decimated by European imperialism.Highly recommended!
