I have always looked forward to the coming of a 3D stereoscopic atlas. The3D effect in this atlas does not come out too well. If you are expecting apop out kind of hologramic effects, you will be disappointed. Thestereoscopic illustrations are on the right hand side page. They do nothave labels to show you what you are looking at. You have to refer to theopposite left hand page. With the stereoscopic glasses on, that can be apain. I could be the only one but those glasses make my eyes reallyuncomfortable after awhile. The CD-ROM is interesting. You can rotate 3Dimages. Again, no labels. Unless you are a neuro-anatomist or neurosurgeon, you will not be able to appreciate the full details of the images. You willbe able to name less than half of the structures in the images. Message tostudents is to stay away from this atlas. I swear by good old Atlas of theHuman Anatomy by the lateFrank H.Netter anytime of the day. The text byNeary and Crossman provides a pretty good basic coverage, in terms ofillustrations and text, of neuroanatomy too.

Product Description:
The topographical and functional architecture of the human brain is highly complex. A profound understanding of this architecture is a prerequisite to understanding the functions and dysfunctions of the brain, to pass examinations in neuroanatomy, and to conduct operations in neurosurgery. The illustrations in this stereoscopic atlas have been developed with the greatest scientific thoroughness, and using an absolutely new 3D computer model. The use of a complex, stereoscopic visualization procedure presents the reader with a completely new and amazing, yet comprehensible, insight into the human brain. In combination with the CD-ROM, which contains all 175 illustrations as rotatable 3D models, this book introduces an innovative quality into the conception of spatial structures. It has never been so easy and fascinating to understand the architecture of the human brain!
