(More customer reviews)I wish it had stated clearly in the description that this is a collection of four other books!I thought it was a completely different book than the ones we already have or just bought! I am a little frustrated that I just received a book that contains four books we already own.

BUT that now said, if you dont have these books in the series already (Flashing Fire Engines, Roaring Rockets, Dazzling Diggers, Terrific Trains) this is a GREAT book to have.An affordable way to get these four books at once. And I have been unable to find our copy of Terrific Trains - which is one of my son's favorite books - so unknowingly I now have new copy of it here!!! (of course, our original copy will resurface now!)

Transportation/Vehicle crazy toddlers will love these books - the illustrations are fun and the ryhmes are great. But sometimes tough for mom and dad the first few run throughs. I am in awe that my newly verbal child will ask for the other books in the series we have by name ("can we read tremendous tractors momma?" ... "I want amazing airplanes dadda")

I think we have all the books in this series now and eagerly await the next ones in paperback.

In my frustration, I would have given this book 5 stars except for the fact that the description didnt better state that it was a collection - or that I didnt see that info noted. (Doh!)

Super Submarines (Amazing Machines) Review

(More customer reviews)I loved the illustrations in this book. And the text was readable. But there was no story. This book was boring and little more than a Powerpoint presentation on submarines. There are ten slides (2 pages wide each) and a 1-pager at the end that claims to list submarine parts.

It is rare for me to rate a book with 3 stars. Before I rate a book as "just OK" I try very hard to find what it was the author was trying to accomplish in writing the book and view the book from that perspective. And if the author accomplishes her goal, then I'll raise my rating up to a 4.

Unfortunately, in the case of this book, I just can't push the rating up. In my humble opinion the author was trying to inform children about what submarines are, how they work, how they run, and where they function - and the way he did it was not a particularly good or interesting way. If one puts together a book that is much like a public speaking presentation, then it is going to be graded as such. Did the speech catch the audience's attention early? No. Did it sound interesting? No. And did it fully explain what it was trying to convey? No. There are just too many negatives to these answers. 3 stars!

(More customer reviews)These little hardback books are mini versions of the originals, but they have exactly the same text and illustrations - and are way more toddler friendly!The stories are awesome - my 18 month old can't get enough.Theres lots of rhyming, and tons of 'factual information' rather than just a story - so i know hes going to love them for years to come.My 4 year old nephew is a great fan too - particularly of the very last page which is a summary of the key 'parts' of each machine!
